Things To Know About Felt – Introduction

Things to Know About Felt - Introduction - Acorns & Twigs

You already know that I love to felt – be it wet felting or needle felting, or felted fabric for my clothing.

A few years ago, I discovered my true enthusiasm and talent for the ancient skill of felting,  through our waldorf kindergarten friends in Germany, and since have not been able get enough of it! In 2016 I even took a leap and started my own store, featuring my favorite wool and tools.

I am fascinated every day, again and again, of how I can create my favorite wool or even warm slippers within just a few hours simply with help of warm water or a felting needle, my favorite wool and muscle power – oh and of course WOOL!

Felt has been around FOREVER…well, almost.

Long before the invention of synthetic in our clothing, people were able to produce their own fabric. A fabric that is windproof, water-repellent, breathable and above all – 100% biologically degradable.

Luckily, these benefits were rediscovered a few years ago and a growing number of people have been fascinated by it since.

In the following few posts I have written about the following topics:

I’ve even wrote an eBook called “Understand Needle Felting” – filled with more than 120 pages all about needle felting inspiration, the science of wool and what to know when shopping for your first projects.

About the Author Jenn

Hi! I'm Jenn! I'm an ambitious, creative and natural mama of four awesome kids: Amy (born in 2010), Blake (2011), Cody (2013), Lulu (2014) - yeah my husband and I took a year off in 2012 - go ahead, call us lazy :) My husband Gerhard, our four kids and I live in America’s heartland on a small, in-town acreage in Iowa – but that is pretty new. We are still grounding after an international move from Germany. This is not an understatement, an international move is WAY different than a normal move, but that is a whole different story! I am here to share our love, knowledge and experiences of waldorf in the home including holistic toys, crafts and food. My goal is also to share helpful tips on natural parenting and healthy play.
